Sir Alex Ferguson and his babies
Sir Alex Ferguson was a great manager and won almost everything at United. But I don't think he's credited enough for his ability of nurturing talent.
Paul Scholes was one of them. The current generation has a penchant of cancelling legacies of some wonderful players. Scholes was called as the greatest midfielder of this generation by Zidane and Xavi, not that bad right?
Ryan Giggs was also one of Fergie's babes, although he was already a established player. He is considered as one of the greatest players of the Premier League. His off field activities is one big reason why he wasn't included in the hall of fame.
Rooney, Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo were also developed by Sir Alex. Two of them are modern legends and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo went on to become one of the greatest players to have graced the game. The image of Sir Alex hugging and congratulating Cristiano after he won the Euros is sketched in our minds. Cristiano lost his biological father when he was 20, but his footballing father is still alive and he's proud.
He was almost as a father figure to Cristiano Ronaldo, that's no secret. Having a father figure, someone who can guide you is an absolute prerequisite to greatness. That might be one one of the reasons why Neymar hasn't achieved what he should have.
It's not an easy job to nurture raw talent. Even Sir Alex has failed at this juncture at times with the likes of Lee Sharpe, Wes Brown ,Ben Foster.
Nevertheless the above mentioned players are testimony to his ability to make superstars out of young raw talents, something that is overlooked when we account his legacy.
